Footage from Spiral shoots: an event floor, a founder interview, an engineer at the bench and a reactor render.

A narrative studio for deep tech

We film the workthat is too hardto explain.

Spiral spends time in the lab, on the factory floor and at the launch site, then turns what is actually happening there into film investors watch to the end.

$164M+
Raised by three of the companies we filmed, after the films
200K+

The $164M+ is Aalo, Avalanche Energy and Mango Medical added together, and nobody else. Those rounds closed after our films. We are not going to tell you the films caused them.

Investors do not fund what they cannot picture. Everything we make exists to close that gap.

What we do

Four things,done properly.

Each frame is one of the four in action, numbered to match.

  1. A founder being interviewed on his own factory floor.

    Investor films

The film that plays before the room asks its first question. Built out of interviews with your team, footage of the real thing running, and animation for the parts a camera cannot reach.

  2. A 3D render of a reactor assembly, lit against a dark background.

    Technical animation and 3D

Reactors, cells, satellites, payloads. Rendered so the mechanism is legible to someone who does not share your background, and accurate enough that your engineers will put their name to it.

  3. Hardware suspended in red lifting straps, guided by hand onto a test stand.

    Launch and product films

Ninety seconds carrying a product nobody has seen before. Written, shot and cut to survive being watched on a phone with the sound off.

  4. A full auditorium watching a Spiral film on a large screen.

    Events and documentary

First light, first flight, groundbreaking day. We bring a crew, stay out of the way, and leave you with footage you will still be using in three years.

Nuclear

Aalo

We began working with Aalo before its Series A, turning the company's nuclear thesis into a story people could see and understand. As Aalo moved from early reactor designs into manufacturing, we returned to document the factory and engineering progress, then created technical 3D renders to show how its future reactor products would work.

Series B followed

Both rounds came after the work. Neither is a claim about cause.

Energy storage · Appliances

Impulse

Impulse needed investors to see beyond the appliance and understand the energy infrastructure behind it. We built the narrative, then produced a 13-minute investor film combining founder and engineering interviews, facility and product footage, and five minutes of custom animation explaining how the appliances, distributed storage and Virtual Power Plant work together.

    Avalanche Energy

200K+ views on YouTube, and $29M raised after. We ran the investor screening event as well.

  • Medical devices

    Mango Medical

Their hero video. $8.3M raised. Y Combinator backed.

  • Solar energy

    Exowatt

    We filmed their launch event.

Why us

You would beworking with Rahul.

He runs the team that made everything on this page, and he was on set for most of it.

  1. The engineer

Chemical engineering at UC Berkeley, then the battery and EV industry. He has worked the other side of the bench, so you will not spend the first meeting explaining your own technology to him.

  2. The filmmaker

Investor films, launch films, documentary. He has shot in labs, factories, test sites and auditoriums, which covers most of the places deep tech actually happens.

  3. Inside the ecosystem

He is in the rooms where this industry gets funded, and he spends a good part of his week introducing the people in them to each other.

Deep Tech Storytelling Workshop

He also teaches this.

Rahul runs a workshop on explaining deep tech without flattening the science. If you would rather start with your team learning how to tell the story than with us filming it, say so and we will sort out a date.
